Husband Pile- Organizing 2012 P2

So, I have a bone to pick with my husband (and he is fully aware of it)  He walks in the door from work and a mess just follows.

Actually his mess walks in before he does.

Every day, before even walking up the one-step entry way, he empties his pockets on to the entrance ledge and leaves a heaping pile of crap which he leaves there until he leaves for work the following morning. It annoys me, he knows it annoys me, but just can't seem to make the change. So I have decided to try and at least make his mess look prettier.

I started with this random plastic piece. I actually don't know what it is. I had like 50 of them donated to me and figured they would come in handy somehow. Anyone know what it is? something for cross stitch or something? they are plastic... I dunno

I began cutting the plastic to make pieces for the fabric box I intended to make for my husbands mess. It took a bit of measuring, and some left over turquoise fabric, and out came a fabric box to house his S%&$* stuff , at least I can see the pretty box I made before seeing his crap-o-la that is STILL on the ledge!!

Now how do I get him to take off his boots BEFORE walking all over my newly washed floors.. hmmm.. project for another day, I guess.

Bias Tape hell - Oragnizing 2012 P1

Like so many others, I am taking the new year to find some new organizing systems for everything from craft room to bathrooms.  I need to start small because I need to do projects while the rascals children are napping.  So went to the craft room picked up this WILD basket of Bias tape

Yup, it needed help, so found this organizer buried deep in the back of shelf ill-filled with little embellishments which could easily find a new home, took out the center row separators

and beautiful organized all the bias tape and Hem facing. Ahhh, that feels better :)

 Happy Organizing!!!

The Spoon Theory

Tears fill my eyes as I came across

So many years of fund raising and being so open with my sister about her Arnold Chiari Malformation, I felt that I could understand (the best I can) those who suffer from disease/chronic pain. Then I read this and I had an even clearer vision.  Thank you to the author and all of those who are supporters of all causes.

Pizza, Pizza

A family member owns a pizza place..
literally, it is called the Pizza Place :)

She has an adorable little grandson whoose momma contacted me and asked me to make him an apron to wear while he "worked"  there. Here it is and it is so stinking cute!

Toddler Talk

Thought I would try something new and join Toddler Talk here at

Since most days I feel I am knee deep in Toddler Talk with a 3 and 5 year old, I can really empathize and celebrate this world.

I am sure many others have to deal with the three year old attitude. My daughter (although she is wonderfully creative and funny) has the attitude of a 16 year year old spoiled girl. She throws around her attitude while she wears anything sparkle and leopard print (and throw in some pink) as if she owns the place Don't DARE pay attention to it or she will likely amplify the attitude.  Just ignore, turn the other way (if no one is in immediate danger)  and attempt to stay calm.

The son.  Overall, we are past the horrible two's and three's (he is 5) but he has this minor obsession with super heros. They are PERFECTLY lined up at all times and GOD FORBID anything get moved or out of place.  Sometimes I worry about his OCD, but he just likes things in order and always has. Things need to be perfect and color coded, and just the way he left it. If not, I am sorry to say he is reduced to tears :( again, I try to talk this down and calm him down without giving him too much attention for it.

Ugh, why is all such a battle??

Overall, being a stay at home mom for the fast 5 years has been a blessing. I am grateful I could do this, but I also see that someday very soon I will be returning to teaching. It makes me appreciate the the attitude of the daughter since sometime real soon she will be turning 16 to match that lovely attitude of hers.  It makes me appreciate my son even more that he is a solid thinker with the ability to turn those anal tendencies into clear organized thoughts so that his school days aren't a struggle.  Each and every day they make me laugh,  Each and every day they fill my heart with joy, and I would have it no other way!
